Badrinath is a famous pilgrimage site so the footfall of tourists is very high, so during the traveling traveler are advised to take care of their belongings. The Kapat or the door of the temple opens on the day of Akshay Tritiya and the yatra for Chota Chardham starts. From the month of April till October the door remains open. The door of the temple shuts again onset of the Diwali festival and the Doli of God and Goddess is shifted downward for the winter season. So the best time to visit the temple is from April to May, and from September to October. During June and July, the temple remains open but due to the rainy season, frequent landslides occur which makes travel difficult.

Badrinath can be covered with a helicopter from the Sahastradhara helipad in Dehradun. You need to reach about an hour before the leaving time of the helicopter. Yatra can be completed in one day by helicopter service in advance.

By air: From Delhi, you can fly to Jolly Grant Airport in Dehradoon. It’s a domestic airport and for a further journey, you can take local transport.
By road: You can take any A/C, non-A/C bus or a Volvo from Kashmiri gate ISBT. After reaching Haridwar or Rishikesh you can either hire a private taxi or take another bus going to Joshimath.
By train: You can take a direct train to Haridwar Railway station and by reaching there you can choose any local transport to reach Badrinath.
