As per the mythology related to the Mansa Devi temple, Mansa a common girl unaware of her complete truth about her guardians thought and decided to meet Lord Shiva and sat for sadhana. After years of spiritual exercise, she got a chance to meet Lord Shiva who then told the truth. After knowing the truth she attained the powers f goddess of welfare for the world. 

The devotees who visit Mansa Devi get their wishes fulfilled. The devotes ties threads to the branches of a tree located in the temple. Once their wishes are fulfilled devotees come back again to the temple to untie the thread from the tree. 

Mansa Devi temple is situated in Haridwar, Uttarakhand and is devoted to the goddess Mansa Devi. This temple is nestled atop the Bilwa Parvat on the Sivalik Hills. Mansa Devi temple is also knowns as Bilwa Tirth and is one of the Panch Tirth within Haridwar. It holds two statutes of Mansa Devi, one with three mouths and five arms and another with eight arms. 

One can reach this temple either by trekking a good 3kms or one can ride on rope-way service or Mansa Devi Udankhatola. This temple remains open from 7 am to 7 pm and is visited by numerous devotees every day. The nearest railway station is at a distance of around 3kms and the airport- Jolly Grant is at a distance of almost 37kms. The aptest time to pay a visit to this temple is from May to September and in December and January when the weather is pleasant.
